Sorry, I couldn’t resist pun!

This past weekend, Emily and Nicholas Koscik-Aquino came back with a Silver and Bronze medal as well as a 5th place finish at one of the two Regional Youth Circuit tournaments held annually in St.Louis.  Here is some background on how impressive this feat actually is:  Our region (Midwest Region) consists of 11 states, and the RYC tournaments usually attract most of all the best fencers in our region. On top of that, neither had a coach there to advise or instruct – these young warriors had to think through how to fence all of their opponents in pool bouting and in multiple direct elimination bouts completely on their own.  What a great way to teach your kids the lessons of resilience, independent thinking, resolve, tactics.  I am glad we were able to give these kids the right technical preparation for them to fall back on to do so well!
